Job Title: AVP, Legal, Artificial Intelligence Counsel

Job Responsibilities:
- Provide legal advice on the development, implementation, use, and monitoring of artificial intelligence (AI) systems and platforms.
- Address AI governance, compliance best practices, and applicable legal and regulatory requirements in the life insurance, annuities, retail funds, retirement solutions, and group benefits industries.
- Maintain knowledge on current and emerging developments and trends in AI and assess their impact on company strategies.
- Direct and enhance organizational initiatives by supporting change management and departmental/enterprise initiatives.
- Identify and direct strategic process improvements to improve quality across the team, department, and/or business unit.
- Execute approved strategy decisions and contribute to strategy creation.
- Provide strategic direction to build and enhance capabilities.
- Offer subject matter expertise to team members and stakeholders on complex assignments/projects.
- Analyze and provide strategic legal advice on changes in laws, regulations, and guidance relating to AI systems.
- Act as a subject matter expert for advice, counsel, and judgment on AI-related matters.
- Identify and communicate legal exposure and risk to key stakeholders.
- Contribute to AI-related policies, practices, and guidelines to promote fairness, accountability, transparency, and ethical considerations.
- Engage with industry groups and committees to track changes in AI-related laws and best practices.
- Review and draft language for contracts, RFP responses, and other legal documents related to AI.
- Collaborate with IT, Compliance, Risk, and business teams to ensure AI systems adhere to regulations and standards.
- Manage and direct outside counsel as appropriate.

Education and Experience Information:
- Undergraduate degree required.
- . from an American Bar Association (ABA) approved school and a Member of the Bar in good standing is required.
- 7+ years of experience as an attorney, preferably at a law firm or financial services company.
- 1-3 years of experience in insurance, AI, and/or relevant technology-related legal experience is a plus.

Salary Information:
- The pay range for this position is $125,800 - $229,100, with anticipated pay for new hires between the minimum and midpoint of the range.
- Pay is based on non-discriminatory factors, including work experience, education, location, licensure requirements, proficiency, and qualifications required for the role.
- The role may be eligible for the Annual Incentive Program and other rewards, including long-term incentives, sales incentives, and the company's standard benefits package.

Additional Information:
- The position is hybrid, with a preference for working 3 days a week in a company office.
- Relocation assistance is not available.
