About the Programs:

• The Court's volunteer programs offer participants practical work experience and skill development while familiarizing them with court procedures and operations.
• The programs are designed to provide participants with an enhanced understanding and appreciation for the judicial system.
• There are opportunities in various departments such as Court Administration & Courthouse Operations, Judicial and Courtroom Operations, Family Court Services Mediation, and Paralegal work.
• Participants will receive experience preparing legal documents, networking opportunities, and an overview of Court processes and procedures.

Paralegal Program:

• This program offers participants the opportunity to work on cases involving child support, spousal support, and health insurance issues.
• Participants will gain experience preparing legal documents and have access to networking opportunities.
• Placement areas include Family Law, Self-Help Centers, Domestic Violence Clinic, Guardianship Clinic, and Toll Family Law Counseling Center with LAFLA.
• This program is open to students currently enrolled in paralegal schools, colleges, and universities throughout LA County, as well as individuals who have completed a Paralegal certificate program.

Volunteer Information:

• Most programs allow participation as a volunteer.
• Volunteers donate their services without pay from the Court and without compensation or credit from a third party (may receive aid or benefits as part of a government program).
