Job Title: EDGE Internship Summer Program (Engineer & Patent Scientist)
Job Responsibilities:
- Perform patent and technical research and writing.
- Review patent applications and draft documents for attorney review.
- Research and report on patent filings.
- Undertake other duties and projects as assigned by the intern’s direct report.
- Work directly with intellectual property professionals.
- Gain exposure to the patent engineer, scientist, and agent program.
- Develop research and writing skills under the guidance of industry professionals.
- Become familiar with the latest technologies and technical developments.
- Receive mentorship from an experienced Intellectual Property professional.
- Set goals and access necessary tools for success.
- Participate in formal performance appraisal and feedback sessions.
Education and Experience Information:
- Candidates should be Bachelor’s Degree, Master’s Degree, and . students, or Post-Docs.
- Passion for technology and a genuine interest in patent law is essential.
- Candidates must have highly proficient research skills and demonstrated analytical ability.
- Detail-oriented with excellent time management and follow-up skills.
- Strong initiative and proactive in working with others.
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills are required.
- Valid authorization to work in the . is necessary.

Additional Information:
- The internship is a paid position.
- Interns will be placed at one of the law firm's offices across the country, with location preferences prioritized.
- The program includes assigned IP mentors and advisors, multiple office locations, formal goal setting, evaluations, challenging work assignments, and networking and social activities.
- Internships take place during the summer and last for 10 weeks.
- Candidates must submit a cover letter, resume, writing sample, and (unofficial) transcripts.
- The writing sample should include technical content related to the candidate’s major, if possible.
- Applicants should include their cumulative GPA and expected graduation date in their resume, and explain their office location preference in the cover letter.
