Job Title: Export Controls & Sanctions - Manager
Job Responsibilities:
The role of Export Controls & Sanctions - Manager involves a wide array of responsibilities centered around managing national security regulatory compliance obligations for clients. The manager is expected to be at the forefront of helping clients navigate the complexities of export controls and trade sanctions. Key responsibilities include:
- Working collaboratively as part of a team to address complex business issues from strategy to execution.
- Actively developing new skills and stepping out of comfort zones to resolve issues that impede effective teamwork, including during periods of change and uncertainty.
- Coaching and encouraging team members to take ownership of their personal development.
- Analyzing complex ideas or proposals, building meaningful recommendations, and using a variety of information sources to develop solutions.
- Upholding the firm's code of ethics and business conduct while addressing sub-standard work or work that does not meet client expectations.
- Building trusted relationships with clients and managing diverse viewpoints to achieve consensus and positive outcomes.
- Designing and conducting assessments on the effectiveness of export controls and trade sanctions compliance programs, including policies, procedures, controls, and technologies.
- Overseeing the development and review of export controls and trade sanctions processes, including the creation of policies, procedures, and manuals.
- Providing on-demand consulting services related to export controls and trade sanctions inquiries.
- Leading managed services teams to help clients address regulatory challenges such as restricted party screening and export classification.
- Engaging with specialized teams globally to deliver comprehensive client requests and support business development activities.
- Demonstrating knowledge of US export controls and trade sanctions regulatory requirements and possessing an understanding of the international trade environment and its complexities.
- Leading teams effectively by building networks of client relationships and community involvement, communicating value propositions, and managing project workflow and economics.
- Supervising teams to foster an atmosphere of trust, encouraging diverse views, and coaching staff by providing timely feedback.
- Developing new relationships and introducing new projects or services with a "One Firm" inclusive service mindset.
- Leveraging automation and digitization to innovate and optimize engagements, reducing hours through technology solutions.
Education and Experience Information:
- Minimum Degree Required: Bachelor Degree
- Minimum Year(s) of Experience: 6 years
- Required Knowledge/Skills: Export controls/sanctions/other regulatory certifications (., ECoP; CGSS) and a background in National Security regulatory roles (., former Government or industry roles with a focus on trade compliance).
- Preferred Fields of Study: Business Administration/Management, International Relations, Political Science, Economics, Finance, Accounting.
- Additional Educational Preferences: Bachelor of Science, Masters of Science, Bachelor of Business Administration, Master of Arts, Juris Doctor.
Preferred Knowledge/Skills:
- Extensive abilities in serving as a subject matter specialist in a client-facing capacity.
- Designing and assessing the effectiveness of export controls and trade sanctions compliance programs.
- Overseeing and reviewing development of processes and controls related to export controls and trade sanctions.
- Supporting consulting services and overseeing managed services teams addressing regulatory challenges.
- Demonstrating knowledge of US export controls and trade sanctions regulatory requirements and the international trade environment.
- Experience in team leadership, client relationship building, and project management.
- Knowledge of automation and digitization in a business environment to innovate and optimize engagements.
Salary Information:
The salary range for the Export Controls & Sanctions - Manager position is $100,000 - $232,000, with eligibility for an annual discretionary bonus. Actual compensation within this range depends on the individual's skills, experience, qualifications, location, and applicable employment laws.
