Job Title: Consultant, Sales and Use Tax
Job Responsibilities:
- Work collaboratively with a team to identify tax savings opportunities for clients.
- Gain a comprehensive understanding of how clients compute each component of sales and use tax.
- Conduct research on tax issues, reconcile databases, and perform detailed calculations.
- Assist the team in the verification process by the taxing authority.
- Respond to client inquiries and requests from tax authorities.
- Travel to client locations to gather and copy necessary documentation such as tax returns, invoices, and purchase orders for audit refund processes.
- Review documentation and research issues to provide value to clients.
- Work with raw data to perform calculations.
- Draft various filings, including petitions for redetermination, refund claims, and administrative replies.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Analytics, Business Computer Information Systems, Economics, Statistics, or a related field with a Master’s in Business Discipline or JD.
- A minimum of 9 credit hours in Accounting or equivalent technical courses, with a GPA of or higher and a Major GPA of or higher.
- Relevant work experience is preferred, such as internships, summer positions, or school jobs.
Computer Skills:
- Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft® Word, Access, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Internet navigation and research is required.
Certificates and Licenses:
- A valid driver’s license is required.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.
Work Environment:
- Standard indoor working environment.
- Occasional long periods of sitting while working at a computer.
- Regular interaction with employees at all levels of the company in person and via e-mail and telephone.
- Regular interaction with clients and external vendors in person and via e-mail and telephone.
- Independent travel requirement: Up to 10-20%.
Salary Information:
- New York, NY Salary: $74,800 - $95,000
- Certain roles may be eligible for incentive compensation.
