Job Title: Legal Assistant
Job Responsibilities:
The Legal Assistant will play a crucial role in supporting attorneys representing employers, insurance carriers, third-party administrators, and self-insured corporations in the defense of workers' compensation claims. The primary responsibilities include:
- Scheduling hearings, mediations, depositions, and appointments with courts and opposing counsel.
- Drafting and editing routine correspondence related to hearings, meetings, and case updates.
- Communicating with clients, physicians’ offices, and court personnel to coordinate case activity.
- Managing case files and maintaining accurate internal tracking of deadlines and court requirements.
- Handling incoming client calls and inquiries with professionalism and urgency.
- Supporting attorneys with other administrative and legal tasks as needed.
Education and Experience Information:
Candidates must have at least two years of legal assistant experience specifically in Workers’ Compensation law. They should demonstrate strong proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel), excellent written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to multitask, prioritize, and meet deadlines in a high-volume legal environment. Experience with case management systems is required, with Aderant Total Office experience considered a plus. Additionally, candidates should possess strong organizational skills and a keen attention to detail.
