Paralegal/Sr. Paralegal
Job Responsibilities
- Provide litigation support to a team of attorneys, with a focus on discovery and discovery-related motions, briefs, memoranda, and other pleadings.
- Create, update, and prepare various legal documents including correspondence, pleadings, briefs, motions, memoranda, summaries, and reports using the company's legal case management software and voice recognition equipment.
- Proofread final work products to ensure high quality and compliance with office standards.
- Analyze adversaries' written discovery responses to determine if follow-up is needed for more specific responses.
- Prepare pre-trial discovery motions as needed based on tasks and file review.
- Retain experts, schedule expert examinations, and provide relevant documentation to experts upon request.
- Prepare authorizations and subpoenas and obtain records as requested by attorneys.
- Submit authorizations to record retrieval vendors and/or medical providers with associated follow-up.
- Request discovery from all relevant entities/adversaries and produce discovery to other parties as requested by the assigned attorney, in accordance with office protocols.
- Propound discovery on other parties as requested by the assigned attorney, in accordance with office protocol.
- Assist with trial support, including pre-trial hearing preparation and/or settlement agreements as needed in applicable jurisdictions.
- Provide other assistance as requested by managing attorney, office administrator, legal operations manager, or other supervisor.
Education and Experience Information
- Minimum of 5 years of paralegal experience in the jurisdiction (CT) required.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- College degree preferred.
- Paralegal certificate from an ABA-approved paralegal program preferred.
- CT Worker's Compensation experience required.
- Experience as a hearing representative in the CTWC industry required (voluntary agreements, disability ratings, etc.).
- Conversant with applicable law and rules governing civil procedure.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word.
Salary Information
- Pay Range: USD $60, - USD $95, per year.
- The actual base salary is based on geographic location and is representative of salaries for this role throughout the company's footprint.
