Family Law Paralegal The candidate' will work closely with our current attorneys and our staff in a team work first environment. Will be exposed to, and will over time become accomplished in our area of practice, by working on cases with other members of our team. Attention to detail is important. Job Description: Under direct supervision by a licensed attorney, the Paralegal performs legal tasks assisting the attorney in preparing legal documents, and delivering other legal services. Drafting, preparing, filing and serving notices of deposition, subpoenas, at issue memoranda, and other simple legal documents. Drafting and preparation of routine correspondence associated with case files. Simple legal research, including the location of statutes, shepardization of cases and computerized legal research utilization. Compiling, organizing and analyzing data from investigative and other reports, depositions and other discovery documents, correspondence and other sources. Preparing case files for trial, including the drafting of summaries of witness testimony from source documents, and organizing and assimilating documentary exhibits for introduction into evidence, using computer assistance where applicable. Performs related duties as assigned. Education Requirements: Either a certificate of completion of a paralegal program approved by the American Bar Association or from a postsecondary institution that requires the successful completion of a minimum of 24 semester (or equivalent) units in law-related courses. The postsecondary institution must be accredited by a national or regional accrediting organization or approved by the Bureau for Private Postsecondary and Vocational Education Or A degree from a postsecondary institution that requires the successful completion of a minimum of 24 semester (or equivalent) units in law-related courses and that has been accredited by a national or regional accrediting organization or approved by the Bureau for Private Postsecondary and Vocational Education Or a baccalaureate degree or higher in any subject AND a minimum of one year of law-related experience under the supervision of an active California State Bar certified attorney. A written declaration from this attorney stating that the applicant is qualified to perform paralegal tasks is required Or A high school diploma or equivalent AND Experience: A minimum of three years of law-related experience under the supervision of an active California State Bar certified attorney. A written declaration from this attorney stating that the applicant is qualified to perform paralegal tasks is required.
