Job Title: Assistant General Counsel - Transactional
Job Responsibilities:
The Assistant General Counsel - Transactional position within the Office of General Counsel (OGC) of a reputed firm involves performing complex legal work under varying degrees of supervision and autonomy, depending on the level of the attorney position (Attorney III or Attorney IV).
Attorney III:
- Maintain close working relationships with management and team members to perform duties effectively.
- Coordinate work of other staff and participate in personnel training.
- Handle complex matters with the expectation of producing favorable results.
- Manage litigation matters, including responding to complaints, discovery, motions, and hearings.
- Conduct “second look” reviews of complaints against attorneys that were previously closed without action.
- Study, interpret, and apply complex laws, court decisions, and legal authorities.
- Prepare legal documents, pleadings, memoranda, reports, and opinions.
- Complete complex cases, projects, and presentations.
- Ensure timely and effective preparation and completion of investigations, cases, or legal projects.
- Advise management on human resources issues and participate in policy formulation.
- Provide guidance to lower-level attorneys and direction to non-attorney staff.
Attorney IV:
- Perform work involving innovative theories and specialization in law areas.
- Provide guidance to attorneys and staff on complex legal principles.
- Develop and deliver training within their expertise area.
- Handle highly complex matters, including litigation, with favorable outcomes expected.
- Conduct “second look” reviews of attorney complaints closed without action.
- Prepare legal documents and materials for highly complex matters.
- Develop sound strategies for handling assigned cases, including litigation.
- Ensure effective preparation and completion of legal projects.
- Play a principal role in effectuation of management policy and counsel management on human resources.
- Evaluate administrative problems and develop solutions or alternative methods.
Education and Experience Information:
Attorney III:
- Education: Juris Doctorate Degree from an accredited law school.
- Experience: Minimum of four years progressively responsible experience in litigation and/or legal advice.
- Must have a verifiable reputation for integrity and no history of disciplinary offenses.
- License: Must be an active, good-standing member of **Members Only**.
Attorney IV:
- Education: Juris Doctorate Degree from an accredited law school.
- Experience: Minimum of five years progressively responsible experience in litigation and/or legal advice.
- Must have a verifiable reputation for integrity and no history of disciplinary offenses.
- License: Must be an active, good-standing member of **Members Only**.
Salary Information:
- Annual Salary Range: $140,123 - $231,023
- FLSA Status: Exempt / Non-Union Represented
