Job Description:
- Provide legal advice on policy and program issues for current and new initiatives at **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***.
- Draft legal documents and interpret laws and regulations related to child welfare and early care and education in New York City
- Manage and produce agency records for litigation challenging ACS' practices
- Liaise with the Law Department for employee matters and updates on litigation
- Perform sophisticated legal work in the Special Projects Unit (SPU) within the Office of the General Counsel at ACS
Responsibilities:
- Draft legal documents, such as agency affirmations and affidavits, using generally acceptable legal procedures, forms, and techniques
- Interpret laws and regulations governing child welfare and early care and education in New York City
- Assist in managing and producing agency records for litigation
- Liaise with the Law Department for employee matters and updates on litigation
- Perform sophisticated legal work in the Special Projects Unit (SPU) within the Office of the General Counsel at ACS
Qualifications:
- Admission to the New York State Bar
- One year of satisfactory legal experience subsequent to admission to any state bar or six months of satisfactory service as an Agency Attorney Interne
- Strong research, written, and oral communication skills
- Familiarity with NYC law, policy, and procedures related to child welfare, child protection, juvenile justice, and social services laws
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to exercise independent judgment
Preferred Skills:
- One year of experience as an Agency Attorney Intern
- Excellent research, written, and oral communication skills
- Strong analytical abilities
- Familiarity with NYC law, policy, and procedures related to child welfare, child protection, juvenile justice, and social services laws
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to exercise independent judgment
Salary Information:
- Salary range of $69, - $105,
- Selected candidate will be offered a salary between $69,090 - $79,454

- Section 424-A of the New York Social Services Law requires an authorized agency to inquire about a candidate's history of child abuse and maltreatment
- Residency in New York City is not required for this position
