Job Title: Sr Manager, IP Research

Job Responsibilities:
As a Sr Manager, IP Research at the company, you will be responsible for leading a team of expert IP researchers. Your primary duties will involve supporting the company's business objectives by providing legal advice and managing legal risks concerning intellectual property. You will work closely with the company's Research Center, the corporate library, and the Legal IP department to conduct IP projects that require searching, discovering, and analyzing data from clinical, biomedical, and patent literature sources. Key responsibilities include:
- Leading a team of IP researchers to assess third-party patents concerning company products through Freedom to Operate (FTO) and patentability analyses.
- Collaborating with the IP legal department to develop search strategies and communicate analyses to IP attorneys and other stakeholders.
- Providing patent support for the company's businesses, including prosecuting patent applications and assessing technologies and patent portfolios.
- Working with cross-functional teams to evaluate threats to the company's products.
- Integrating the latest IP tools, including AI technologies, into IP workflows to enhance research efficiency and effectiveness.
- Collaborating with other Research Center functions to compile, analyze, and present research deliverables that support decision-making across the company.
- Determining team priorities and defining how work should be accomplished.

Education and Experience Information:
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in science or engineering.
- Registered patent agent with the USPTO.
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant industry experience.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience with patent prosecution.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience assessing competitor products and IP.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience analyzing competitive intelligence and developing corresponding IP strategy.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience managing people.
- Patent and/or scientific literature searching experience in the biotechnology, pharmaceutical, medical device, healthcare, or related industry with a strong interest in learning and developing this skillset.
- Experience working in-house in a highly matrixed environment.
- Medical device or other healthcare business experience, especially involving digital/software solutions.
- Ability to understand applicable FDA regulations and company operating procedures, processes, policies, and tasks.
- Proven ability to lead and mentor and to perform successfully in cross-functional teams.

Salary Information:
The base pay for this position ranges from $127, to $254,. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.

Additional Information:
The role involves continuous sitting for prolonged periods (more than 2 consecutive hours in an 8-hour day) and significant keyboard use (greater or equal to 50% of the workday).
