Job Title: Litigation Auditor

Job Responsibilities:
- Conducts reviews/audits of law firm invoices to ensure compliance with Company Billing Guidelines and adherence to industry standards as established by the American Bar Association (ABA).
- Ensures that law firm practices are in line with Company Litigation Guidelines and Protocols.
- Develops and maintains knowledge to assess the legal necessity of specific insurance defense-related law firm work.
- Evaluates law firm invoices for work performed at appropriate timekeeper levels and assesses the compensable time charged for legal work billed across various types of litigation.
- Collaborates with various claims departments to enhance litigated cost control through budgets, meetings, presentations, and claim file and document review.
- Utilizes advanced auditing tools for data analysis, including reports, models, tables, and Excel workbooks with functionalities like pivot tables and macros, to audit electronic law firm invoices efficiently.
- Manages the application of these tools across a broad spectrum of invoices and audit levels.
- Resolves appeals submitted by law firms and identifies improper billing practices as well as quality litigation practices.
- Recommends necessary changes to management for modifications or updates in policies to align with process or technology changes.

Education and Experience Information:
- Bachelor's degree (preferably in Accounting, Finance, or Business) or equivalent experience required.
- JD or Paralegal Certificate preferred.
- At least 2 years of relevant experience in insurance defense, claims management, legal bill review, or proven litigation management and expense control.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to work independently.
- Proficient communication and listening skills with a strong emphasis on accuracy and attention to detail.
- Advanced computer skills for developing and preparing complex spreadsheets and conducting unique analyses.
- A working knowledge of court systems, procedural rules, and litigation practices/procedures for the 50 states and Federal system.
- Understanding of legal billing and insurance contracts, coverage, practices, and procedures is necessary.

Salary Information:
- Typical Starting Salary: $76,000 - $101,000
- Minimum Salary: $66,000
- Maximum Salary: $125,000
- The salary range is influenced by skills, experience, education, certifications, and location.
