Job Title: Mergers & Acquisitions Tax Partner
Job Responsibilities:
- Lead and oversee the tax aspects of M&A transactions, including due diligence, structuring, and modeling.
- Provide strategic tax consulting related to buy-side and sell-side activities.
- Advise clients on tax implications of mergers, acquisitions, reorganizations, and divestitures, including tax-free reorganizations and transactions facilitated in accordance with Section 355 transactions.
- Lead and oversee transactional tax consulting including Section 382 loss studies, tax treatment of transaction costs, earnings and profits calculations, and stock basis studies.
- Review and ensure the accuracy of transaction-related tax compliance deliverables.
- Collaborate with deal teams, including financial, legal, and operational professionals.
- Maintain a deep understanding of federal, state, and international tax considerations.
Client Relationship & Practice Management:
- Manage client relationships with a high level of professionalism, ensuring clear communication, mutual understanding, and alignment on deliverables, timelines, and fees.
- Serve as a trusted advisor by monitoring client service quality and value delivery, ensuring the firm consistently provides high-quality work, proactive guidance, open communication, and strategic insight ensuring the firm is viewed as a premium service provider.
- Ensure clients are billed appropriately, reflecting scope, value delivered, and firm standards.
Business Development:
- Actively cross-sell firm services by staying informed about the firm’s full range of offerings and capabilities, serving as a knowledgeable ambassador of the firm and a connector across service lines.
- Contribute thought leadership through articles, presentations, and webinars.
- Drive growth by identifying and pursuing opportunities in the market for tax advisory in M&A and private equity by expanding existing accounts and developing new client relationships.
- Represent the firm at industry events, conferences, and networking opportunities.
- Develop go-to-market strategies in collaboration with the firm’s leadership, business development, and marketing teams.
- Establish sales and revenue goals, and actively manage a strategic business plan and opportunity pipeline that ensures these goals are met.
Leadership, Mentorship & Staff Development:
- Provide mentoring and motivation to the team, including developing young leaders via active contribution to training and development.
- Act as a thought leader within the firm and the broader industry through knowledge sharing, technical insight, and public engagement.
- Be growth-oriented and work towards building a leveraged model, when appropriate.
- Respect and celebrate the value of each team members’ stories, backgrounds, perspectives, and ideas building meaningful relationships with all those you interact with.
Education and Experience Information:
- Bachelor’s degree; CPA or JD required.
- 10+ years of progressive experience within tax at a public accounting firm or law firm, including leadership experience with a consistent record of accomplishment, accountability, and history of execution against budget and strategic initiatives.
- 8+ years of experience dedicated to providing transactional tax and related consulting services.
- Proven thought leadership, advanced technical skills, in-depth knowledge, and a concentration in transactional tax services.
Salary Information:
- Estimated Salary Range: $XX,000 - $XX,000.
