Job Title: Counsel - Personal Risk Services

Job Responsibilities:
The role of Counsel in Personal Risk Services involves supporting the Personal Lines underwriting business in North America. The primary responsibilities include advising business clients on regulatory and compliance-related matters for various personal lines products and policies such as homeowners, auto, excess, and recreational marine insurance. Key responsibilities are:

- Communicating effectively with business partners, underwriting, claims professionals, and Legal and Compliance colleagues to provide guidance on coverage developments, industry trends, and new exposures in personal lines insurance.
- Contract drafting and legal review of all personal insurance products, including home, auto, valuable articles, excess, yacht, and cyber insurance.
- Providing general regulatory advice on cancellation/nonrenewal issues, personal lines underwriting matters, customer complaints, and confidentiality/non-disclosure agreements.
- Assisting with responses to regulatory criticisms on product filings and regulatory inquiries.
- Conducting legal research on a variety of underwriting-related issues.
- Completing the legal review of marketing material.
- Providing legal support for sales and service units.
- Reviewing and revising new and existing personal lines insurance products, endorsements, contracts, and other ancillary documents associated with such policies.
- Reviewing and interpreting applicable federal and state laws and regulations, legislative developments, case decisions, and claims verdicts pertaining to personal lines to provide comprehensive legal advice.

Education and Experience Information:
The position requires a Juris Doctor degree from an accredited . law school. The candidate should have a minimum of 1 to 5 years of legal experience. While this is an entry-level counsel position, having some insurance (property/casualty; personal lines a plus) or other financial institution regulatory experience, and insurance coverage analysis background (including policy language development) is ideal. The candidate should possess strong research and analytical skills, outstanding verbal and written communication/presentation skills, and the ability to offer advice on complex issues to business professionals at every level of the organization. Additionally, the candidate should have enthusiasm for working in a team-oriented environment and a strong service-oriented disposition, including the ability to multi-task. A proven track record of results, achievement, collaboration, teamwork, problem-solving, and negotiation skills is also required.

Salary Information:
The pay range for this role is $113,400 to $192,800. The specific offer will depend on an applicant’s skills and other factors. This role may also be eligible to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program. The company offers a comprehensive benefits package, with more details available on the careers website. The disclosed pay range estimate may be adjusted for the applicable geographic differential for the location in which the position is filled.
