Job Overview:
A leading international law firm is seeking a Restructuring Associate Attorney for its New York office. The role involves advising clients in complex restructuring matters, including both in-court and out-of-court proceedings, with an emphasis on commercial, cross-border, and financial restructurings. The ideal candidate has 3–5 years of relevant law firm experience working with debtors, creditors, and financial institutions.

Location:

  • New York, NY

Duties:

  • Advise corporate clients, financial institutions, and other stakeholders on bankruptcy, insolvency, and restructuring strategies

  • Represent clients in chapter 11 and chapter 15 proceedings and out-of-court restructurings

  • Draft, negotiate, and review legal documents including restructuring agreements, court filings, and contingency plans

  • Conduct due diligence and legal research related to distressed entities and transactions

  • Collaborate with attorneys in finance, M&A, tax, employment, and litigation to deliver integrated legal solutions

  • Manage multiple matters and deadlines in a fast-paced, high-stakes environment

Requirements:

  • 3–5 years of experience in restructuring, bankruptcy, and related legal practices

  • Experience representing either creditors or debtors in financial distress situations

  • Previous large or mid-size law firm experience preferred

  • Ability to handle multiple complex cases concurrently

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (.) from an accredited . law school (. or foreign equivalent may be considered)

Certifications:

  • Admission in good standing to the Bar of New York or Texas preferred (other jurisdictions considered if candidate is eligible for prompt admission)

Skills:

  • Strong legal writing, research, and analytical skills

  • Excellent drafting ability and attention to detail

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with ability to advise high-level clients

  • Proficient in managing time, workload, and competing priorities under pressure

  • Demonstrated interest and acumen in financial restructuring and distressed transactions
