Senior Paralegal
Job Responsibilities:
The Senior Paralegal is responsible for offering strategic and sophisticated legal guidance under the supervision of an attorney. The role involves drafting legal guidance and court filings in collaboration with internal and external counsels, conducting research, and analyzing data. Specific responsibilities include:
- Providing strategic legal guidance to the Global Wealth and Investment Management (GWIM) businesses on legal aspects related to client onboarding, maintenance, at-risk person and fraud, and disputes amongst clients or against the company.
- Researching state and federal laws and reviewing applicable client agreements to advise on client service-related issues, such as Powers of Attorney, Trusts, Transfer on Death, Beneficiary Designations, Guardianships, Estates, and Legal Structures.
- Offering legal advice on adversarial matters regarding internal or external fraud, customer complaints, and issues involving seniors or other at-risk persons.
- Liaising directly with internal clients to provide practical and succinct legal guidance.
- Collaborating with other paralegals, attorneys, and outside counsel on complex or high-risk matters.
- Evaluating laws, rules, and regulations and providing concise written analysis.
- Researching relevant facts and case law to support specific transactions or internal projects.
- Working with business and control partners on audit and other control issues.
Education and Experience Information:
Required Qualifications:
- Prior experience in securities law or other banking/financial institution experience.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to accurately draft, edit, and summarize documents and communications.
- Demonstrated capacity for managing competing priorities, effective time management, thoroughness, and initiative.
- Proficiency in Microsoft suite and other related software.
