Job Title: Court Attorney JG - 23

Job Responsibilities:
Court Attorneys are tasked with researching and analyzing legal issues and questions and performing other related duties. They work in a confidential capacity under the supervision of judges or groups of judges in various courts including the Supreme Court, County Court, Surrogate's Court, the Court of Claims, and Family Courts. In this specific assignment, the Court Attorneys will be under the supervision of the Deputy Administrative Judge and/or the Chief Support Magistrate and assigned to the Child Support Pilot in **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***. and Bronx County Family Court. Their duties include:

- Working in conjunction with Support Magistrates to assist with triaging intake cases.
- Providing procedural and legal information to unrepresented litigants regarding child support, paternity, and custody matters.
- Assisting unrepresented litigants in the use of the Do-It-Yourself and NYSCEF e-filing computer programs.
- Directing the public to the proper departments for assistance.
- Reviewing court papers for legal sufficiency.
- Collecting and reporting statistical information.
- Assisting in monitoring the implementation of the pilot program.
- Researching and analyzing legal questions and issues.
- Reviewing and preparing cases for trial, including conducting case conferences.
- Drafting confidential opinions and Findings of Fact.
- Conferring with lawyers on unusual or complex proceedings and reviewing legal documents filed in connection with such proceedings.

Education and Experience Information:
The position requires admission to the New York State Bar or graduation from an accredited law school and admission to the New York State Bar within 18 months of appointment. The position is open to both experienced attorneys and recent law school graduates.

Salary Information:
The base salary for the position of Court Attorney JG - 23 is $84,659, with an additional $4,920 location pay.
