H3: Job Description:
- Seeking an associate-level attorney to join our collaborative business litigation team
- Location: Open to multiple Harris Beach Murtha offices for a hybrid remote opportunity
- Responsible for representing clients in courtroom and mediation/arbitration proceedings
- Must be able to take and defend depositions, conduct legal research, and draft various legal documents
- Expected to maintain a minimum of 1800 billable hours annually
H3: Qualifications:
- 4-7+ years of experience in litigation required
- Experience in complex commercial litigation and/or bankruptcy preferred
- Must be admitted to the Connecticut bar, admission to New York and/or Massachusetts bar preferred
- Familiarity with Connecticut State Court and Federal Court practice required
- Federal or state judicial clerkship experience is a plus
- Must have a Juris Doctorate degree from an ABA accredited law school and be an active member in good standing of the bar
- Excellent research and writing skills are a must
- Effective communication skills, both written and oral
- Able to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
H3: Responsibilities:
- Represent clients in courtroom and mediation/arbitration proceedings
- Take and defend depositions
- Research various factual and legal issues and collaborate with senior attorneys about strategies
- Draft legal documents such as memoranda, pleadings, and briefs
- Examine records and transactions related to business disputes and investigations
- Must be willing to work in a variety of commercial litigation practice areas
- Collaborate with colleagues across departments to provide comprehensive legal support to clients
- Expected to maintain a minimum of 1800 billable hours annually
