Job Title: Enterprise Applications Engineer
Job Responsibilities:
As a crucial member of the Information Systems Department, the Enterprise Applications Engineer is tasked with the vital role of overseeing the daily monitoring, support, and maintenance of existing enterprise-wide applications. These applications include document management, ethical walls, timekeeping, accounting and billing, information and compliance, litigation support applications, and other related systems within the law firm. The engineer is also responsible for spearheading projects related to the updating or installation of new enterprise-wide applications.
Essential Functions:
- Monitor the health of enterprise-wide applications, focusing on error logs, server performance, and memory and processor usage.
- Address Help Desk tickets related to enterprise-wide applications and other applications as needed, noting trends, performing troubleshooting, and managing problems, including escalating issues to other teams and vendors as required.
- Stay updated on patches and releases for enterprise-wide applications, reviewing release notes, tracking resolutions to existing software problems, and recommending updates for installation.
- Lead the testing of new software or versions of software, creating and maintaining test environments for each enterprise-wide application, including server specifications, software installations, integrations, and customizations.
- Create and maintain testing scripts for all enterprise-wide applications, manage testing teams and procedures, and analyze test results.
- Act as the Project Lead for new enterprise-wide applications or updates to existing ones, serving as a project member on assigned projects run by another team member or manager. Responsibilities include creating project plans, monitoring deadlines, and evaluating project team performance.
- Create and maintain production environments for enterprise-wide applications, including server and desktop specifications, client software packaging, server software installations, integrations, and customizations.
- Submit Change Management forms for approval per IS procedure, schedule work with vendors, perform installations or upgrades, and conduct final testing and close monitoring post-installation or upgrade.
- Interface regularly with vendors regarding problems, bug fixes, and new software versions.
Additional Functions:
- Maintain a high level of knowledge in all enterprise-wide applications through release notes, documentation, vendor dialogue, and training classes.
- Serve as a back-up for all other applications primarily supported and maintained by other team members.
- Perform desktop applications packaging, testing, and deployment via SCCM.
- Assist, teach, and mentor Applications Analysts and Administrators on the team.
- Perform other related job duties as assigned.
Education and Experience Information:
Education:
- A Bachelor’s degree is required, with a major in computer science preferred. A combination of education and prior experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
Experience:
- A minimum of five years of extensive experience managing enterprise-wide applications is required, preferably within a law firm.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Deep knowledge of document management, timekeeping, law firm accounting and billing systems, litigation support, ethical walls, and security.
- Comprehensive understanding of infrastructure, server, operating systems, and network communications.
- Proficient in desktop operating systems, software, and software packaging practices.
- Strong ability to install and maintain any enterprise-wide application, including servers, customizations and integrations, load balancing, and disaster recovery procedures.
- Knowledge of SQL server and SQL scripting.
- Familiarity with Microsoft technologies and Group Policy.
- Certification in iManage is preferred.
Salary Information:
The salary range for this position, applicable to the State of New Jersey, is between $110,000 to $140,000. The salary range reflects various factors considered in making compensation decisions, including but not limited to experience, education, licensure and/or certifications, geographic location, market demands, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical to hire an individual at or near the top of the range for a position.
