Job Title: Assistant Corporation Counsel – Affirmative Litigation Senior Counsel/Complex Litigation
Job Responsibilities:
The Assistant Corporation Counsel in the Affirmative Litigation Division is responsible for representing the City in a variety of federal and state cases where the City appears as a plaintiff. The role involves advancing key policy interests, protecting the City's financial interests, and managing claims related to the City's operations. Specific responsibilities include handling matters involving inter-governmental disputes, municipal corruption, public health, products liability, insurance coverage, commercial disputes, tenant protection matters, civil enforcement of the Administrative Code, and property damage claims. The attorney will lead litigation teams, manage caseloads independently, and work to resolve cases effectively. The position requires participation in a pilot program that allows for remote work on a limited and irregular basis, with the option to work from home two set days per week, subject to approval and division needs.
Education and Experience Information:
Candidates must be admitted attorneys with a minimum of 10 years of litigation experience. The position requires experience in successfully leading litigation teams and independently managing caseloads. Candidates should possess excellent interpersonal, writing, and oral advocacy skills, with substantial experience advising clients, negotiating settlements, and litigating in state and federal courts. Experience as a plaintiff in litigation is preferred. A commitment to public service is essential, and prior government experience is preferred.
Salary Information:
The salary range for this position is $132, – $182,.
