Job Title: Litigation Docket & Calendar Specialist
Job Responsibilities:
The Litigation Docket & Calendar Specialist is responsible for managing and maintaining the docket and calendar system within the law firm. The core responsibilities include:
- Possessing a strong knowledge of State, Federal, Local, and Judges’ rules, and a thorough understanding of the litigation process to ensure accurate calculations of deadlines.
- Working independently and collaborating with other team members to foster a cohesive and effective docketing team.
- Being detail-oriented, a fast learner, and able to multi-task in a busy department.
- Researching resource guides, rule codes, authorities, and numerous court websites.
- Communicating efficiently and clearly via emails and phone with attorneys, secretaries, and paralegals regarding matter calendars and court procedures.
- Adapting to changing department procedures as necessary.
- Ensuring accuracy and attention to detail in all aspects of work.
- Being reliable and dependable, with daily attendance being critical.
- Occasionally required to work overtime and attend the office on an as-needed basis.
Education and Experience Information:
Required Qualifications:
- A minimum of 1-5 years of litigation docket and calendaring experience in a legal docketing department or clerk's office within a law firm.
- Strong knowledge of state and federal rules of civil procedures.
- Familiarity with an automated, rules-based docket and calendar system, preferably CompuLaw.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of court rules in California, Texas, Illinois, Washington DC, Virginia, and/or Maryland is highly preferred, with a strong preference for knowledge of California court rules.
Education:
- Required: Bachelor’s Degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Computer/Software Knowledge:
- Required: Familiarity with CompuLaw or similar docket software.
- Preferred: Typing speed of 45+ words per minute.
Salary Information:
California: The pay range for this position is to per hour.
Illinois: The wage range for this position is to per hour. This position is eligible for medical, vision, and dental insurance. The compensation and benefit information is provided pursuant to the Illinois Equal Pay Act.
Washington DC: The pay range for this position is to per hour. Medical, vision, and dental coverage is available, including coverage for dependents and domestic partners. The compensation and benefit information is provided pursuant to the District of Columbia Wage Transparency Omnibus Amendment Act of 2023.
