Senior Counsel, Claim
Job Responsibilities:
The Senior Counsel at the company is responsible for managing a caseload of higher exposure cases and more complex litigation matters. Key duties include litigating cases to verdict, specializing in one or more areas of practice, and demonstrating strong legal research, writing, and presentation skills. The role involves drafting substantive pleadings, motions, briefs, discovery, and other legal documents. The Senior Counsel is expected to build and foster internal and external client relationships with a customer-centric focus and provide leadership through mentoring other attorneys and legal support staff. Additional responsibilities include providing internal and external training, seminars, and legal updates to insured clients and Claim partners, offering in-depth analysis and quality reporting consistent with best practices, and effectively utilizing support staff and available technology. The role may also involve travel as required to meet business needs, initiating special projects, and performing other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience Information:
Candidates must possess a Juris Doctorate and be graduates of an accredited law school. A minimum of 7 years of litigation practice or prior legal experience is required. The position requires an active license in good standing to practice law in the state(s) where representation is needed. A valid driver’s license may be required depending on the location. Ideal candidates will have senior associate/partner level experience, a proven track record of trial skills and techniques, and a commitment to delivering high-quality legal work. They should demonstrate strong legal acumen, technical knowledge in the practice area(s), and the ability to comprehend and communicate complex information. Candidates should also exhibit strong leadership, mentoring, and influencing skills, along with a dedication to professional development and business initiatives.
Salary Information:
The annual base salary range for the Senior Counsel position at the company is between $129, and $213,. The actual salary will be determined based on factors such as the scope, complexity, and location of the role, as well as the candidate's skills, education, training, credentials, and experience. In addition to the base salary, employees are eligible for performance-based cash incentive awards as part of the company’s comprehensive compensation and benefits program.
