Legal Assistant / Paralegal
Job Responsibilities:
The Legal Assistant/Paralegal will be responsible for supporting the transactions team within the law firm. The core responsibilities include:
- Managing multiple attorney calendars to ensure efficient scheduling and time management.
- Filing documents with various state and county document filing systems, including Simplifile, to maintain accurate and up-to-date records.
- Drafting simple correspondence under the supervision of attorneys to assist in effective communication.
- Docketing and tracking deadlines to ensure timely completion of tasks and compliance with legal timelines.
- Proofing and editing documents as directed by an attorney to ensure accuracy and professionalism.
- Keeping track of all transaction documents on internal systems to maintain organized and accessible records.
- Providing general administrative support for the transactions team to facilitate smooth operations and client service.
Education and Experience Information:
- A minimum of 10 years of experience as a legal assistant/paralegal, preferably in a high-quality law firm with an emphasis on business law and/or real estate law.
- A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent is preferred but not required for this position.
- The candidate should be highly organized, proactive, and possess excellent communication, grammar, and proofreading skills.
- Strong technical skills are necessary, including proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite and Adobe Acrobat Pro.
- Experience with NetDocuments or other document management systems is preferred.
- Familiarity with securities law compliance and SEC and other regulatory filings is preferred but not required.
- The ability to work independently and as part of a team, remain flexible with assigned duties, and demonstrate a desire to learn and grow is essential.
- The candidate should be able to coordinate and prioritize workload efficiently and work well under deadline pressures.
- A great sense of humor is valued in this role.
Salary Information:
The position offers a competitive salary ranging from $75, to $85, per year, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
