Job Responsibilities
The Associate Attorney will be responsible for providing oversight and management of high-volume statewide foreclosure matters. This involves ensuring that all appropriate actions are taken to expedite the firm's files. The attorney will act as a liaison between the law firm and clients, vendors, outside counsel, courts, trustees, and other foreclosure personnel. They must manage files in accordance with applicable foreclosure rules and firm-established timelines. Additionally, the attorney will work within the firm's case management system to create, manage, and review daily and weekly reports. They will review and execute various pleadings and correspondence, maintain accurate updates in client and firm management systems, and outline, prepare, and present pleadings and other legal documents. The role also requires arguing the merits of assigned cases at hearings, conferences, mediations, or trials, attending and/or conducting public auctions as needed, reviewing title searches to identify any title issues and determine the proper parties to serve, and performing other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience Information
The candidate must be admitted to practice in New York. Admission to practice in New York’s federal district courts and/or other states is a plus. Experience in real estate, mortgage, and/or commercial litigation is strongly preferred. Knowledge of FDCPA, RESPA, TILA, as well as any applicable state and federal debt collection and real property law, is a plus. Experience in foreclosure and real estate law is a plus; if none, the candidate must be willing to learn. The candidate must have exceptional communication skills, both oral and written, and the ability to travel as needed. The role requires a detail-oriented individual with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively, proficiency in legal research, writing, and document drafting, and a demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. A commitment to upholding ethical standards and maintaining client confidentiality is essential. A portable book of business is a plus.
Salary Information
The salary is commensurate with experience, ranging from $85,000 to $110,000 annually. The law firm offers a competitive benefits package, including health, dental, vision, and 401k.
