Job Title: Research & Intelligence Operations Manager

Job Responsibilities:
The Research & Intelligence Operations Manager is tasked with overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Research & Intelligence team, ensuring efficiency and effectiveness. Key responsibilities include:
- Managing vendor relationships by conducting evaluations, negotiating subscriptions and renewals, reviewing and approving contracts, and handling invoicing.
- Overseeing the firm’s online and print collections, ensuring that resources are current, accessible, and effectively utilized.
- Supervising the operations team responsible for maintaining print and digital collections, credential management, and engagement communications.
- Establishing operational procedures that align with library management best practices and spearheading initiatives to enhance efficiency, cost management, and service delivery.
- Collaborating with department leadership to analyze utilization data, identify trends, and recommend strategies for increasing engagement or retiring resources.
- Demonstrating a commitment to excellent service and quality while promoting teamwork and continuous improvement.
- Modeling a culture of knowledge sharing and creative problem-solving to increase engagement with the firm’s research and intelligence resources.

Essential functions of the job also include:
- Ensuring resources are cataloged and accessible, subscriptions are up-to-date, budgets are managed, and engagement communications are delivered.
- Managing accounting operations, including subscription contracts, invoicing and payments, tracking and reporting, and budget preparation.
- Working closely with department leadership to manage vendor relationships and ensure business terms align with the firm's needs.
- Overseeing onboarding, ongoing training, and off-boarding communications.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
The role entails direct supervision and professional development of firm employees and indirect supervision of contracted staff.

Education and Experience Information:
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum of seven years' experience working with legal or corporate research functions.
- Minimum of two years' experience in a supervisory role.
- Extensive knowledge of library operations best practices and systems within a large law firm or professional services environment, including catalog, credential, and utilization management solutions.
- Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills with the ability to connect with lawyers and professionals at all levels.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple complex workstreams with competing deadlines and priorities and direct the activities of others.
- Customer service orientation with high attention to detail and strong organizational and process management skills.
- Demonstrated ability to think strategically to define business goals, set priorities, manage resources, and deliver results with minimal direct supervision.
- High degree of emotional intelligence and professionalism consistent with the firm’s vision and values.

Education:
- Required: Bachelor's Degree in a research-related discipline or similar field.
- Preferred: Master of Library Science or similar advanced degree.

Computer/Software Knowledge:
Required:
- Deep knowledge of library management solutions and vendor billing interfaces.
- Substantial knowledge of MS Office products, MS Teams, OneNote, and similar communication and collaboration tools.
- Competency using legal and business research tools leveraged across the firm.
Preferred:
- Familiarity with AI-related technologies, including Large Language Models (LLMs), Generative AI, and legal-specific platforms.

Work Environment:
- The current firm policy is hybrid, requiring work in the office a minimum of three days per week, subject to change.
- After-hours and weekend work may be required occasionally as the workload demands.

Travel Requirements:
- Up to 10% minimal domestic travel is required for meetings, retreats, and conferences as needed.

Salary Information:
California: The salary range for this position is $130,000 to $155,000 per year.
New York: The pay range for this position is $130,000 to $155,000 per year, provided in accordance with the New York City Salary Transparency Law.
Washington .: The pay range for this position is $130,000 to $155,000 per year, with medical, vision, and dental coverage available, including for dependents and domestic partners. This information is provided as per the District of Columbia Wage Transparency Omnibus Amendment Act of 2023.
Illinois: The salary range for this position is $130,000 to $155,000 per year, with eligibility for bonuses and medical, vision, and dental insurance. This information is provided pursuant to the Illinois Equal Pay Act.
