Cooley, a leading technology law firm, is seeking a Data Engineering Business Analyst to join their Data Science & Engineering team in multiple locations across the US including New York, Los Angeles, Santa Monica, Chicago, Palo Alto, Washington DC, Boston, Colorado, Seattle, San Francisco, San Diego, and Reston. This is a full-time position with a competitive salary range of $100,000 - $145,000 annually, depending on location and experience.
About the Role:
In this role, you will be responsible for data engineering analysis to support a data lake rollout and data migration initiative. You will work closely with business stakeholders and clients to understand data requirements and translate them into actionable technical specifications. This is a crucial role in ensuring the successful migration and integration of data while maintaining data quality, governance, and compliance standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with stakeholders to understand data requirements and prioritize business needs for the migration project
- Conduct data analysis and profiling to gain insights into data pipelines, structures, and quality
- Translate business requirements into technical specifications and user stories for data engineering and development teams
- Design and implement data pipelines, ETL processes, and data transformations
- Ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency of migrated data through data validation, testing, and quality assurance
- Support business users and stakeholders during user acceptance testing and post-migration activities
Qualifications:
- 3+ years of experience as a Business Analyst with a focus on data engineering, analysis, and requirements gathering for data migration projects
- Strong understanding of data engineering concepts, methodologies, and tools, with hands-on experience with data lakehouses and cloud tools
- Proficiency in SQL for data analysis, manipulation, and querying
- Familiarity with data governance and metadata management tools
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field (preferred)
- Professional certifications related to Azure, Snowflake or Databricks integration (preferred)
- Experience with Agile methodologies and project management practices (preferred)

- Ability to collaborate and influence multiple stakeholders across various departments
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
