Job Title: Paralegal A
Job Responsibilities:
The Paralegal A at **Members Only**, a project of Texas RioGrande Legal Aid, Inc., will be responsible for a variety of tasks aimed at supporting the legal team in delivering free employment-related legal services to seasonal and migrant workers in several states. Key responsibilities include:
- Assisting attorneys with litigation preparation, which involves gathering documents, organizing files, and supporting attorneys in court-related tasks.
- Conducting outreach in rural areas, particularly during evenings and weekends, to connect with migrant and seasonal workers, which may involve traveling to different locations.
- Performing client intakes to gather essential information from potential clients and determine their eligibility for legal services.
- Preparing community legal education materials and conducting "Know Your Rights" presentations to educate workers about their legal rights and available resources.
- Investigating cases by collecting evidence, interviewing witnesses, and documenting findings to support legal proceedings.
- Communicating with community organizations, media, and other service providers to build networks and partnerships that enhance service delivery.
- Referring individuals to other agencies and private attorneys when necessary to ensure clients receive comprehensive support.
- Performing any other duties as necessary to support the mission and objectives of **Members Only**.
Education and Experience Information:
Applicants for the Paralegal A position must meet the following qualifications:
- Fluency in written and spoken English and Spanish is required, as the role involves communication with a diverse client base.
- A demonstrated commitment to social justice, particularly in areas related to workers' and immigrants' rights, is preferred, indicating a strong alignment with the organization's mission.
- Proficient word processing, internet, and office skills are essential for managing documentation and communication effectively.
- A valid driver's license is required, as the role involves extensive travel, particularly during the spring and summer months.
Salary Information:
The salary for the Paralegal A position ranges from $42,340 to $56,157 per year, depending on experience and based on a 40-hour workweek. Occasional overtime may be required, with compensation provided for any additional hours worked. The organization offers a comprehensive benefits package, including:
