Job Overview:
A prestigious law firm in Philadelphia, PA, is currently seeking a skilled Labor and Employment Associate Attorney to join their dynamic team. The firm represents a diverse range of clients, including large corporations, financial institutions, public utilities, non-profit organizations, and more. The role offers the opportunity to work on a wide variety of labor and employment law matters, including counseling, litigation, and traditional labor relations. Ideal candidates will possess a background in both traditional labor relations and employment law, with experience in areas such as wage and hour disputes, employee relations, and labor contract negotiations.
Duties:
- Provide expert legal advice and counsel on employment law matters to a wide range of clients, including businesses and public sector entities.
- Manage and represent clients in employment litigation, including discrimination cases, wage and hour disputes, and class-action lawsuits.
- Assist clients with union avoidance campaigns and labor relations strategies.
- Negotiate and draft labor contracts for clients across various industries.
- Handle general commercial litigation as it pertains to employment-related issues.
- Stay updated on employment law trends, regulatory changes, and relevant case law to provide proactive counsel.
- Collaborate with senior attorneys and participate in the growth and expansion of the firm’s labor and employment practice.
Requirements:
- 2+ years of experience in labor and employment law, with a focus on traditional labor relations and/or employment matters.
- Experience in handling employment litigation, including wage and hour and class-action lawsuits.
- Proven ability to manage union avoidance campaigns and negotiate labor contracts.
- Familiarity with general commercial litigation.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work efficiently under pressure.
Education:
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
Certifications:
- Licensed to practice law in Pennsylvania.
- New Jersey Bar admission is a plus.
Skills:
- Strong knowledge of labor and employment law, including federal and state regulations.
