Job Title: Assistant United States Attorney
Job Responsibilities:
The Assistant United States Attorney (AUSA) role involves joining the . Attorney's Office for the Southern District of Texas, one of the largest and busiest in the nation. AUSAs are tasked with enforcing federal law, defending the interests of the United States, and ensuring the impartial administration of justice. Responsibilities include prosecuting violations related to organized crime, financial litigation, immigration, drugs, firearms, public corruption, asset forfeiture, and white-collar crime. AUSAs are expected to handle a fast-paced and varied caseload, with frequent courtroom appearances. As experience and training progress, responsibilities will increase and assignments will become more complex.
Education and Experience Information:
Applicants must possess a Juris Doctor (.) degree and be an active member of the bar in any . jurisdiction. At least one year of . legal or other relevant experience is required. Strong academic credentials, superior legal research and writing skills, and quick analytical ability are preferred. Candidates should have high-volume courtroom experience, outstanding organizational and interpersonal skills, and a demonstrated commitment to professionalism and public service. Courtroom experience, including first-chair jury trials, is preferred. Successful candidates should be proficient in using computers for legal research and writing and self-sufficient in preparing correspondence and pleadings. Experience in investigating and prosecuting or defending criminal offenses, grand jury practice, and investigative and prosecution techniques is desirable.
Salary Information:
Assistant United States Attorney's pay is administratively determined based on the number of years of professional attorney experience. The salary range is $74,299 to $195,100, which includes a % locality pay.

Additional Information:
- The position is located in Corpus Christi, Texas.
- All initial attorney positions to the Department of Justice are made on a 14-month (temporary) basis.
