International Trade Associate

Job Responsibilities:
The International Trade Associate will be responsible for providing legal services and advice related to international trade regulations. The key responsibilities include:
- Advising clients on compliance with . trade regulations, particularly those enforced by the Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS) at the Department of Commerce and the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) at the Department of the Treasury.
- Handling matters related to . customs law to ensure clients adhere to the necessary legal requirements.
- Conducting thorough research and analysis to provide strategic advice to clients on international trade issues.
- Preparing legal documents and correspondence related to trade compliance.
- Collaborating with a team of legal professionals to address complex trade-related challenges.
- Representing clients in proceedings before trade-regulating agencies as needed.
- Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of changes and updates in trade regulations and policies.

Education and Experience Information:
The ideal candidate for the International Trade Associate position should possess:
- A Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school with exceptional academic achievement.
- Admission to the District of Columbia Bar or eligibility to waive into the District of Columbia Bar.
- 2-4 years of experience in international trade law, with a preference for experience working with . trade-regulating agencies such as the BIS and OFAC.
- Experience in . customs law is advantageous and will further distinguish the candidate.
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and writing skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.

Salary Information:
The salary range for the International Trade Associate position in the Washington ., Chicago, and New York offices is $205,000 - $230,000. The actual salary will vary and may be above or below this range depending on relevant skills, training, and other job-related factors. This salary range is part of the total compensation and benefits package offered by the law firm, which includes productivity and discretionary bonuses, life, health, accident, and disability insurance, and a 401(k) plan.

Additional Information:
Preference will be given to candidates based in the Washington, DC office, but candidates located in or willing to relocate to other office locations will also be considered. This position is open to recruiters.
