Job Title: Working Capital Senior Manager
Job Responsibilities:
1. Working Capital Management:
- Evaluate monthly inventory to assess the ability to achieve billing and collection targets.
- Manage client revenue and net investment balances, meeting with partners to understand client exposures.
- Understand various transactions and cases to ascertain prospects and timings of billing and collection.
- Monitor financial risks on large matters and strategize with partners to avoid write-offs and maximize recoveries.
- Review billing write-off narratives and ensure material amounts are investigated.
- Lead the annual WIP valuation exercise for financial audits.
2. Pricing, Matter Profitability, and Project Management:
- Manage clients/matters with a Legal Project Management approach to monitor legal staffing and control margins.
- Analyze billing and profitability information for reporting and problem-solving.
- Prepare complex budgets for partner review before new engagements.
- Design reporting metrics to improve billing and collection days and reduce write-downs.
- Schedule meetings to review matter and client performance.
- Deliver training on best practices in matter management.
3. Relationship Management:
- Act as a business partner and advisor to partners and senior decision-makers.
- Maintain collaborative relationships with Working Capital Controllers and Pricing teams.
- Report progress and escalate concerns to heads of departments.
- Establish relationships with external clients to resolve issues.
- Pre-empt client queries by identifying and mitigating potential risks.
- Develop relationships with partners, counsel, and associates to support complex requests.
4. Management and Development:
- Provide leadership and senior support across working teams.
- Ensure team workload is balanced and partners receive appropriate support.
- Assist the team in improving technical abilities and soft skills.
Education and Experience Information:
- At least 10 years of experience in a management and/or operational role in a leading company/firm with profit center responsibility.
- Experience in a partnership environment and working in a matrix organization is advantageous.
- Must possess gravitas, resilience, and a high level of intellectual ability to influence at all levels.
- Requires strong team management and development skills.
- Must have excellent analytical and numeracy skills, with advanced experience in Microsoft Office.
- Experience with 3E is an advantage but not essential.
- Occasional travel may be required.
Salary Information:
- For individuals in New York, the estimated annualized base salary range is $180,400-$232,000. The actual salary will depend on qualifications, location, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
