Supervisor of Unclaimed Property (Accountant/Auditor)
Job Responsibilities:
The Supervisor of Unclaimed Property will have a pivotal role in managing unclaimed property matters within the law firm. This includes working with a team to oversee voluntary disclosures submitted by companies and engaging with various stakeholders such as clients, unclaimed property administrators, opposing attorneys, and accountants. Key responsibilities include:
- Performing various tasks and managing deadlines related to unclaimed property matters.
- Analyzing and reconciling accounting records and deliverables.
- Investigating transactions and histories to determine if selected transactions represent unclaimed property.
- Preparing calculations of unclaimed property liability and conducting statistical sampling.
- Supporting the delivery of effective presentations to clients and adverse parties.
- Preparing professional, client-ready reports.
- Researching company financial information and unclaimed property issues.
- Analyzing unclaimed property reports filed with states.
- Applying unclaimed property law and regulations to company facts and accounting transactions.
- Investigating entity corporate structures and histories.
- Drafting responses to inquiries and requests from opposing parties.
- Developing and enhancing knowledge and expertise regarding unclaimed property matters.
- Performing other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience Information:
- The position requires 0-3 years of accounting/audit experience, with prior unclaimed property experience preferred.
- A bachelor’s degree that imparts knowledge of statistical, financial, and accounting principles is generally required.
