Responsibilities:

Manage a docket of beginning and intermediate level cases
Prepare and handle lawsuits involving eminent domain, tort claims, workers’ compensation, employment discrimination, and contract claims in both state and federal courts
Provide legal advice and assistance to state agencies
Conduct investigations, perform research, and draft legal documents
Analyze factual and legal issues and develop evidence
Prepare cases for trial and handle all duties of lead counsel
Perform necessary appellate work
Manage a docket of advanced, complex level cases
Attend work regularly and ensure security and confidentiality of sensitive information
Comply with agency policies and procedures

Qualifications:

Juris Doctor Degree from an accredited law school
Three years of full-time experience as a licensed attorney
Licensed to practice law in the state of Texas
Member in good standing with the State Bar of Texas
Skill in using a computer and effective communication
Ability to work cooperatively with others and provide excellent customer service
Ability to travel up to 30% and work more than 40 hours as needed
Ability to lift and relocate 30 lbs.
Preferred experience in civil litigation, real estate valuation and appraisal, and land use planning
Knowledge of remote proceedings and experience mentoring and supervising other attorneys
Jury trial experience
