Job Title: Law Clerk - 2025 Fall Semester
Job Responsibilities:
- Draft litigation working documents and prepare concise decisions based on facts, interpretations of law, and compliance with state and federal standards.
- Evaluate all information to determine the status of cases.
- Monitor, track, and follow up on documentation, case files, or other assignments to ensure appropriate timelines are met and actions completed.
- Prepare cases by conducting legal research and gathering evidence.
- Review cases, applications, files, records, etc., to determine the necessary actions to be taken.
Education and Experience Information:
- Current law students or recent law school graduates are eligible to apply for clerkship and/or externship opportunities.
- Clerkships are paid positions and are not eligible for school credit.
- Externships are unpaid positions and may be eligible for school credit, which must be verified through the applicant's college or university's field placement coordinator.
Salary Information:
- Law clerks work part-time at a starting rate of $26/hour for 1st-year law students, $28 for 2nd-year law students, and $30 for 3rd-year law students or recent graduates.
Supplemental Information:
- Applicants must pass a criminal history check.
- Compliance with the Driver Eligibility standards is required.
- Risks found in a typical office setting are present, with adequate lighting, heating, and ventilation.
- The position may require some walking, standing, bending, carrying light items, and driving an automobile. Special physical demands are not required.
