Job Title: Senior Manager, Accounting Methods

Job Responsibilities:

The Senior Manager in the Accounting Methods group is tasked with optimizing federal tax accounting methods for companies. This includes areas like IRC 263(A) capitalization, depreciation accounting methods, expense acceleration, and revenue deferral. The role is part of the Specialized Tax Services (STS) business, focusing on federal, state, and international tax law compliance.

The main responsibilities include:

- Research: Conduct thorough investigations to identify situations requiring research, confirm accuracy of facts and prepare studies on tax implications. Develop research memos and presentations for marketing and sales.
- Tax Compliance: Ensure clients comply with applicable authorities, identify options to minimize tax and reporting burdens, complete workpapers and tax return forms, and meet firm risk management and tax quality control standards.
- Tax Consulting: Develop and implement solutions for maximum tax benefits, stay updated on legal and factual developments affecting tax accounting methods, and identify process improvements.
- Tax Controversy: Represent clients before tax authorities and respond to inquiries from federal and state tax authorities.
- Tax Specialization: Develop an in-depth understanding of tax accounting methods and identify opportunities in other tax specializations.
- Strategy Development: Develop strategies to advance client or firm positions and suggest marketing approaches for new client acquisition.
- Marketing and Business Development: Exhibit thought leadership in Tax Accounting Methods, work with partners and managers to develop marketing plans, and prepare presentations and proposals for clients.
- Supervisory Responsibilities: Supervise and review work of Senior Associates and Associates, ensure they are well-trained, evaluate their performance, and act as Career Advisor.

Education and Experience Information:

- Education: A Bachelor’s degree is required, preferably in Accounting, Tax, or Finance. A Master’s degree or Juris Doctorate (.) is preferred.
- Experience: At least seven years of prior federal tax client service experience is required, along with experience supervising tax consulting professionals. Experience with accounting methods, corporate taxation, consolidations, and partnerships is preferred.
- Licenses/Certifications: A CPA certification, Attorney (admitted to practice in a . jurisdiction), or Internal Revenue Service Enrolled Agent (EA) designation is required.

Salary Information:

Individual salaries are determined based on qualifications, experience, skills, and geography. The salary range is as follows:

- National Range: $99,750 - $262,500
- Maryland Range: $99,750 - $262,500
- NYC/Long Island/Westchester Range: $99,750 - $262,500
- Washington DC Range: $99,750 - $262,500

Software:

Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Word, is preferred. Experience with tax-related software and research databases like Caseware, GoSystems, and others is also preferred.
