Patent Litigation Associate
Job Responsibilities:
The Patent Litigation Associate will be responsible for assisting with patent, trademark, and copyright litigation matters. The role encompasses handling all aspects of litigation, which includes:
- Drafting complaints
- Managing discovery processes
- Preparing contentions
- Taking depositions
- Preparing dispositive motions and settlement agreements
Candidates are expected to take ownership over key aspects of cases and demonstrate leadership skills from early on. The position requires working collaboratively within a team and contributing to the overall success of litigation efforts.
Education and Experience Information:
Candidates should have 3-4 years of litigation experience. Experience with all aspects of litigation is mandatory, including managing written discovery, brief writing, and deposition taking or preparation. Eligibility for the patent bar is required.
The candidate must possess excellent academic credentials along with strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills. Self-motivation and flexibility are essential qualities for this role. Prior experience at a regional or national law firm is preferred. The candidate must be admitted to practice in Illinois or be eligible to waive in.
Salary Information:
The expected pay range for the Patent Litigation Associate position is as follows:
- Chicago: $230,000-$310,000 per year
- Minneapolis: $215,000-$260,000 per year
Actual pay will be adjusted based on experience, location, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
