Job Title: Legal Assistant
Job Responsibilities:
The Legal Assistant serves as a critical liaison between the law firm and any subsequent attorneys or insurance companies. The primary responsibilities include working directly with attorneys to assist with ongoing cases and preparing for trials if necessary. The role involves conducting fact-finding projects and maintaining all case files. Key duties include performing secretarial, clerical, and data entry tasks, managing documents using Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and Adobe, and e-filing legal documents in Georgia’s E-Portal System. The Legal Assistant is also responsible for maintaining the attorney’s calendar, scheduling depositions, pre-depositions, meetings, mediations, and hearings, and assisting attorneys in preparation for depositions, hearings, trials, and conferences. Drafting legal court documents such as pleadings, motions, affidavits, and subpoenas, sending correspondence to parties or non-parties via email, regular mail, or certified mail, and communicating with clients are also essential functions. Additional tasks include setting up Court calls or Zoom for hearings and performing other related duties as assigned.
Education and Experience Information:
Candidates must have a minimum of 2 years of legal assistant experience, specifically in first-party property or general litigation. The position requires strong customer service skills and experience with case management software. Candidates should also have experience e-filing in both state and federal courts and be proficient with Microsoft Office programs including Word, Excel, and Outlook. The role demands the ability to manage a heavy workload in a fast-paced environment and effective communication skills with clients and co-workers. Excellent organizational skills, multitasking abilities, and the capability to prioritize workload are necessary.
Salary Information:
