Job Title: State & Local Tax Manager - Indirect Tax

Job Responsibilities:
Managers in the State & Local Tax (SALT) practice at the company are responsible for overseeing and completing various tax projects. They provide innovative tax planning, consulting, and compliance services to a diverse range of clients, including Fortune 500 companies and venture-backed startups. Specific responsibilities include:

- Engaging in business development activities such as preparing proposals, presenting webinars, and collaborating with other service lines to market comprehensive tax strategies to prospective clients.
- Leading state and local tax audits and advocating for clients throughout the controversy process.
- Reviewing voluntary disclosure agreements, nexus, and taxability studies.
- Determining sales tax liabilities based on multi-jurisdictional revenue.
- Reviewing multi-jurisdictional sales and use tax compliance returns.
- Maintaining communication with clients to ensure satisfaction, meet deadlines, stay current on legislative changes, and lead change effectively.
- Collaborating with Federal Tax Compliance Groups to ensure maximum multi-jurisdictional strategy.
- Researching complex client issues and drafting technical tax memoranda to address solutions.
- Supervising, training, mentoring, and evaluating the performance of Seniors and Associates.

Education and Experience Information:
Candidates for the State & Local Tax Manager position should possess:

- A minimum of 4+ years of relevant work experience in an accounting firm, with at least 3 years focused on State & Local Tax experience.
- A Bachelor’s and/or advanced degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field is preferred.
- An advanced credential allowing for client representation before the Internal Revenue Service is required, such as a CPA or JD.
- The ability to work as a self-starter with the initiative to seek out opportunities and succeed in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
- Proficiency in the use of technology.
