Job Title: Litigation Paralegal

Job Responsibilities:
The Litigation Paralegal is responsible for managing all administrative tasks associated with legal cases. This includes a variety of duties such as editing and preparing correspondence and legal documents, maintaining electronic files, and arranging depositions and other meetings. The paralegal will work closely with one attorney and report directly to them. Key responsibilities include:

- Preparing and formatting memoranda, correspondence, and other legal documents.
- Independently drafting standard routine pleadings and other documents.
- Reading and electronically profiling emails.
- Filing pleadings via legal messenger or electronically with courts.
- Maintaining superior public relations with business associates and clients.
- Scheduling appointments, meetings, depositions, and other functions for an attorney.
- Assisting in scheduling seminars, industry dinners or luncheons, and other functions as requested.
- Collaborating with other staff members in a team-oriented manner.
- Working closely with other paralegals to maintain case files.
- Proofreading legal documents as required.
- Providing support to the Legal Team in a high-volume, time-sensitive environment.
- Providing service updates, client status updates, and following up on outstanding documents and services.
- Coordinating with title contacts to complete outstanding tasks such as recordings and missing documents.
- Drafting and generating pleadings such as Complaints, Motions, Notices of Hearings, Affidavits, Defaults, Notices of Actions, and Notices of Publications.
- Assisting with the check down of closed, active, and hold files including forwarding invoices of foreclosures fees and costs.
- Managing and organizing the production of documents and identifying privileged documents.
- Generating reports and following up on identified outstanding tasks.
- Updating client systems and internal systems as needed.
- Performing other duties and responsibilities as needed.

Education and Experience:
- Minimum of a High School diploma or equivalent is required.
- Secondary education or some college is a plus.
- A minimum of 3-5 years of experience as a Litigation Paralegal or general knowledge of Georgia’s mortgage litigation cases is required.
- Being a Certified Paralegal is a plus.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Must have a positive attitude and be a team player.
- Ability to provide legal support to attorneys and team.
- Experience managing a portfolio of files for clients.
- Ability to navigate state and federal jurisdictional requirements.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with clerks, judges, and defense attorneys.
- Exceptional customer service skills, both internally and externally.
- Must be a self-starter with good time-management abilities.
- Ability to balance team and individual responsibilities and contribute to building a positive team spirit.
- Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness and looks for ways to improve and promote quality.
- Exceptional organizational skills, with the ability to multitask and adapt to change.
- Proficiency in proofreading and editing.
- High-level proficiency in MS Office suite.
- Proficiency in internet research activities.
- Familiarity with case and document management software.
- Good understanding of legal policies and procedures.
- Ability to transcribe correspondence and reports and operate office equipment including computers, fax machines, scanners, photocopiers, typewriters, and telephones.
- Strong written and oral communication and interpersonal skills.

Physical Demands:
The position requires the employee to frequently sit, talk, or hear. Occasionally, the employee may need to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, and stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment:
The work environment is characterized by normal office working conditions with a noise level that ranges from quiet to moderate.
