Job Title: Senior Systems and Cloud Engineer

Job Responsibilities:
The Senior Systems and Cloud Engineer is tasked with maintaining and administering the law firm’s cloud services, including Software as a Service (SaaS), Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), and Platform as a Service (PaaS), alongside managing the hardware and virtual infrastructure such as servers, appliances, server-based applications, and security devices. This role is crucial for achieving secure, high availability and performance of various business applications. The responsibilities include:

- Collaborating with the engineering team to develop, implement, optimize, and maintain cloud-based solutions.
- Deploying and migrating services to the cloud while educating teams on new cloud initiatives.
- Ensuring the security of the cloud infrastructure through planning, designing, installing, configuring, maintaining, administering, supporting, and optimizing cloud solutions and services.
- Working within a team environment to support other IT personnel and end users.
- Applying knowledge and experience to maintain a secure, high-functioning environment.
- Ensuring smooth operations through critical thinking, troubleshooting, and resolution of issues.
- Regularly reviewing and improving existing systems and deploying new solutions.
- Collaborating with engineering and development teams to evaluate and identify optimal cloud solutions.
- Maintaining cloud infrastructures according to best practices and firm security policies.
- Analyzing new and existing public cloud services to create solutions that meet stakeholder requirements and standards.
- Analyzing and implementing configuration changes and assisting in the design of cloud-related solutions to meet both functional and technical requirements.
- Modernizing architecture and core technologies using cloud services and solutions.
- Designing and implementing secure, scalable, and innovative solutions to meet firm requirements.
- Creating and updating applicable technical documentation.
- Identifying and resolving infrastructure vulnerabilities and application deployment issues.
- Ensuring efficient functioning of data storage and processing functions in line with firm security policies and best practices in cloud security.
- Designing and maintaining servers and appliances, including email, file, print, database, document management, directory services, and backup servers.
- Creating, administering, and maintaining end-user network and system accounts, permissions, and access rights.
- Designing hardware and software solutions and troubleshooting and resolving related problems.
- Providing regular and on-call technical support for cloud services, network, hardware, and software issues.
- Recommending, scheduling, and performing improvements, upgrades, patches, and repairs in accordance with established change management processes.
- Developing, implementing, and maintaining procedures for systems and network administration.
- Collaborating with other team members on optimal network design topologies and configurations.
- Supporting research, development, and implementation of networking projects and new technology installations.
- Performing system and data backups and recovery, and assisting in the development and maintenance of business continuity, disaster recovery, and incident response plans.
- Preparing, maintaining, and adhering to procedures for logging, reporting, testing, and monitoring network performance.
- Performing additional IT-related tasks as necessary, including user- and desktop support functions.
- Staying current with industry trends.

Education and Experience Information:
- 6 years or more of relevant work experience.
- 3 years or more of experience in the field of cloud computing.
- Bachelor’s degree or Associate’s degree in a technology or business-related field preferred.
- Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform (GCP), or Amazon Web Services (AWS) and/or other IT certifications preferred.
- Extensive working knowledge of Cloud technologies such as Azure, GCP, or AWS.
- Demonstrable experience designing, building, and maintaining solutions in Azure, AWS, or GCP.
- Knowledge of cloud monitoring and alerting services and capabilities.
- Troubleshooting and analytical skills.
- Demonstrated, applied understanding and technical knowledge of network protocols and fundamentals.
- Demonstrable experience in developing business cases and plans aligned with industry best practices.
- Ability to solve complex technical problems and accomplish tasks with minimal supervision.
- Ability to support project team to prioritize activities and provide deliverables as planned.
- Strong understanding of problem management, change management, and IT policies, procedures, and best practices.
- Demonstrated ability to accurately perform routine and repetitive system administration tasks.
- Highly self-motivated, self-directed, and attentive to detail.
- Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
- Strong written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to present technical ideas in business-friendly and user-friendly language.
- Strong analytical, evaluative, and problem-solving abilities.
- Work may occasionally require more than 40 hours per week to perform the essential duties of the position and requires on-call availability.

Working Conditions:
- Sitting for extended periods of time.
- Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, power tools, and other computer components.
- Occasional installation and inspection of cables in floors and ceilings.
- Lifting and transporting of moderately heavy objects (., servers) up to 50 pounds.
