The Market Regulation Senior Counsel is a full-time position based in Chicago, Illinois or New York, New York with a salary range of $130,000 - $200,000 USD. This position is with ICE Futures ., Inc., a . derivatives exchange that is registered and regulated by the CFTC. As part of the Market Regulation team, the Senior Counsel will play a crucial role in enforcing the exchange's rules and ensuring compliance with federal regulations. The Senior Counsel will also provide guidance and feedback to staff on disciplinary cases and assist in the creation and monitoring of policies and procedures to maintain compliance.
Responsibilities:
- Analyze, prepare, and present investigation reports to the Business Conduct Committee (BCC)
- Negotiate settlements with subjects or outside counsel
- Conduct research to support proposed penalties or suspensions
- Prepare settlement agreements and disciplinary action notices
- Assist in contested hearings, including preparing notices of charges and conducting cross-examination
- Provide guidance on the exchange's rulebook and propose rule revisions if needed
- Assist in ensuring compliance with core principles and creating and monitoring policies and procedures
- Conduct market regulation inquiries and maintain case files
- Serve as a point of contact for rule formation, interpretation, and enforcement
Requirements:
- Juris Doctorate degree
- 5+ years of litigation or relevant work experience in regulatory or investigative matters
- Knowledge of the futures industry preferred
- Strong communication skills
- Self-starter with the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-stress environment
- Proficient in MS Office Word and Excel
Schedule:
- Hybrid work schedule with at least 4 days in the office per week
Salary:
- New York: $150,000 - $200,000 USD
- Illinois: $130,000 - $165,000 USD
