Job Title: Associate - Business Litigation
Job Responsibilities:
The Associate in Business Litigation at the law firm is responsible for representing clients in courtroom and mediation/arbitration proceedings. This role requires taking and defending depositions, researching various factual and legal issues, and collaborating with senior attorneys to devise strategies. The Associate will draft memoranda, pleadings, discovery demands and responses, motions, briefs, and other legal documents. They will examine records and transactions underlying business disputes and investigate potential client claims. A commitment to work across a variety of commercial litigation practice areas is essential. Collaboration with colleagues across departments to provide comprehensive legal support to clients is expected. The role requires a minimum of 1800 billable hours annually.
Education and Experience Information:
The candidate must possess a Juris Doctorate degree from an ABA-accredited law school and be an active member in good standing of the bar. Admission to the New York bar is required, while admission to the Connecticut and/or Massachusetts bar is preferred. The candidate should have at least 7 years of experience in litigation, with a preference for experience in complex commercial litigation and/or bankruptcy. Federal or state judicial clerkship experience is preferred. The candidate must demonstrate excellent research and writing skills and be able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. The ability to function effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment, along with high-level organizational skills for prioritizing workload, is required. The candidate should exhibit conscientiousness, dedication, self-discipline, and a sense of responsibility. A professional, cooperative, positive, and flexible attitude is essential, along with the ability to work with diverse personalities within various levels of the organization. Military experience is welcome.
Salary Information:
The salary for the Associate - Business Litigation position varies depending on relevant experience and geographic location. In Albany, the salary range is $130,000 - $175,000, while in Uniondale and White Plains, the range is $135,000 - $175,000.
