Salary: $26 - 35/Hour
Experience Required: Minimum 3+ years of experience as a Legal Secretary in a workers' compensation defense firm
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Receive and transcribe legal dictation
- Proofread and correct prepared materials
- Compose routine letters and memoranda
- Maintain files, logs, and other information
- Prepare Pre-Trial Conference Statements, settlement documents and Trial exhibits
- Accurately document and bill for all billable work and tasks
- Operate standard office equipment
- Receive and place telephone calls
Skills/Qualifications:
- Minimum 3+ years of experience as a Legal Secretary in a workers' compensation defense firm required
- Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word, Adobe Acrobat, and Dropbox
- Skilled typing ability (minimum 75 WPM)
- Strong writing, proofreading, spelling, and grammar skills
- Case Management Software and EAMS are a plus
- Ability to interact effectively with the public, clients, and employees
- Maintain confidentiality and use discretion and tact
- Work independently in the absence of specific instruction

Legal Assistant - Workers' Compensation Defense: A law firm in California is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Legal Assistant to work in their Workers' Compensation Defense department. Duties and Responsibilities: The Legal Assistant will be responsible for receiving and transcribing legal dictation, proofreading and correcting prepared materials, composing routine letters and memoranda, maintaining files and logs, preparing legal documents and correspondence, accurately documenting and billing for all billable work, and operating standard office equipment.
Skills/Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have excellent knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word, Adobe Acrobat, and Dropbox, as well as strong typing skills (minimum 75 WPM) and writing, proofreading, spelling, and grammar skills. Familiarity with Case Management Software and EAMS is a plus. The Legal Assistant must also have the ability to interact effectively with the public, clients, and employees, maintain confidentiality, and work independently.
