We are currently seeking a VP, Associate General Counsel to join our Litigation and Arbitration team in various locations, including San Diego, New York, Fort Mill/Charlotte, Washington, DC, and Boston.

As a member of our team, you will have the opportunity to defend cases in arbitration and litigation, negotiate favorable resolutions, and manage a docket of cases handled by outside counsel. You will provide legal services and advice to the firm, with a focus on defending the firm and its Financial Professionals.

To be successful in this role, you must have a Juris Doctorate degree from an ABA-accredited law school and be a licensed member in good standing of the state bar. You should also have at least 7-8 years of experience in arbitration and litigation, preferably in the financial services industry.

Responsibilities:

- Defend litigation and arbitration matters brought against the firm and its Financial Professionals
- Evaluate legal and regulatory risk and exposure
- Control own calendar, draft pleadings, argue motions, manage discovery, and handle settlement negotiations and/or the trial or arbitration hearing
- Work and communicate effectively with our in-house team of attorneys, paralegals, and assistants, as well as outside counsel and insurers
- Interpret and apply legal and regulatory guidance
- Report and log case-related data into the company's tracking systems
- Adapt quickly to dynamic environments and manage multiple caseload assignments and deadlines
- Advise internal business partners on risk areas and provide legal guidance
- Monitor insurance status of claims and participate in claims meetings and negotiations
- Handle client and outside counsel contacts in a professional and confidential manner

Requirements:

- Juris Doctorate degree from an ABA-accredited law school
- Licensed member in good standing of the state bar
- 7-8 years of experience in arbitration and litigation
- Excellent communication and writing skills
- Strong strategic, tactical, and organizational skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and other litigation-related data systems
- Willingness to travel and work on legal proceedings as needed

Preferred Qualifications:

- Strong knowledge of the FINRA Dispute Resolution Code of Arbitration Procedure
- Familiarity with federal and state securities laws
- Experience in the investment products and services industry
