Job Title: Equity Research Director - Alternative Energy/Renewables & Sustainability
Job Responsibilities:
The Equity Research Director is responsible for publishing proprietary equity research content in the alternative energy, renewables, and sustainability sectors. This role involves creating stock recommendations (Buy, Hold, Sell) for institutional buy-side clients and conducting due diligence to provide industry expertise for capital markets equity transactions. The director must initiate C-suite corporate access resources, such as non-deal roadshows, conferences, field trips, bus tours, and conference calls, to institutional equity clients. They are also tasked with conducting independent industry assessments and company-specific research reports. Additionally, the position requires involvement with corporate client relationships at the highest C-Level, including CEOs, Presidents, COOs, CFOs, and Directors of Strategy.
Level-specific duties include applying industry/market/product knowledge to drive revenue production and business growth, independently conducting industry assessments and company-specific research reports, and accumulating client votes from institutional clientele. The director plays a key role in developing strategy and objectives for the designated business area, mentors and coaches junior staff, and applies highly developed risk management skills to set the standard for risk management practices within the team.
Education and Experience Information:
Required qualifications for this position include a BA/BS degree and specific licenses: the SIE, the 7 Top Off (or Series 7 for those licensed prior to October 2019), Series 63, Series 87, and either the Series 86 or a FINRA waiver for those who have completed CFA II. Candidates must have a minimum of 10 years of related work experience, proven domain expertise and thought leadership in the industry, strong relationships with senior-level institutional buy-side clients, and strong relationships with C-level corporate executives. Advanced analytical and technical skills, a passion for fundamental research, and a problem-solving attitude are essential. Experience in due diligence execution related to capital markets transactions and excellent interpersonal and listening skills are also required.
Preferred qualifications include an MBA or advanced degree (PhD, JD, MD), and/or CFA designation, 12 years of related work experience, and experience in mentoring and coaching.
Salary Information:
The annual base salary for this position in New York is $300,000.
