Job Title: HR Assistant

Law firm, a law firm with 300 attorneys across more than 30 practice and industry groups, is seeking applications for a full-time Human Resources Assistant. The role is based in the Syracuse office. The ideal candidate should have a keen interest in all human resources functions, possess good communication skills, and demonstrate the ability to prioritize tasks and responsibilities effectively within a team setting.
Position Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date HR files, records, and documentation, ensuring data integrity and confidentiality.
- Respond to frequently asked questions from applicants and employees regarding standard policies, benefits, hiring processes, etc., and refer more complex inquiries to other HR team members.
- Run monthly reports, including those related to voluntary benefits, negative balance, and overtime.
- Assist in managing various HR systems to ensure employee records are current and accurate.
- Support recruitment efforts for open positions.
- Conduct periodic audits of HR files and records to ensure all required documents are collected and filed appropriately.
- Conduct background checks and initiate new hire tickets once offers are accepted.
- Communicate with new hires prior to their start date, including sending welcome emails.
- Coordinate orientation schedules for all new hires and conduct office tours and assist with new hire orientation on their first day.
- Assist with the planning and execution of special events such as community outreach events, organization-wide meetings, employee recognition events, holiday parties, and retirement celebrations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the capacity to handle sensitive and confidential situations with tact, professionalism, and diplomacy.
- Proficient verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
- Ability to quickly learn human resource information systems and similar computer applications.
- An associate's degree in a related field is preferred.
- Prior HR experience is preferred.

Salary Information
The salary range for this position is between $50,000 to $55,000, which is negotiable based on years of experience.
