Job Title: Attorney - Worker's Comp & Auto Litigation
Job Responsibilities:
- Manage and Resolve Claims: Actively manage and successfully resolve a busy portfolio of workers’ compensation and auto liability claims, ensuring timely and effective outcomes.
- Supervise Outside Counsel: Select, retain, and supervise outside counsel, coordinating with law firms to manage budgets and control costs efficiently.
- Strategic Legal Partner: Serve as a strategic legal partner to the business, providing expert advice on business practices, risk avoidance/mitigation, and legal compliance. Keep the team informed with timely reports on substantive legal developments.
- Develop Claims Strategy: Collaborate with internal and external counsel, third-party administrators (TPAs), and insurance companies to develop effective strategies and action plans for claims.
- Oversee Discovery Process: Manage all aspects of the internal discovery process, including reviewing and developing strategies for discovery requests and responses, collecting and producing internal documents, coordinating e-discovery, identifying and interviewing witnesses, and preparing key witness testimony.
- Mediation and Settlement: Develop and attend mediation and settlement strategies in conjunction with internal/external legal partners, insurance companies, and TPAs to achieve favorable resolutions.
- Support Business Partners: Address ongoing questions and issues from business partners throughout the claims resolution process, providing clear and practical guidance.
- Lead Special Projects: Lead special projects within the Legal Department to drive efficiencies, contribute to knowledge management, and support efforts to establish, assess, and maintain team performance metrics.
Education and Experience Information:
- Academic Credentials: Strong academic credentials including a .
- Professional Experience: 3 to 5 years of relevant experience at a law firm or in-house.
- Bar Membership: Must be a current member in good standing of the Tennessee Bar, or a member in good standing of another state bar with eligibility for admission in Tennessee as in-house counsel.
