Job Title: Casualty Claim Counsel
Job Responsibilities:
- Directly handle primary and excess casualty claims that involve emerging risks, potential long-term exposure, or significant coverage issues.
- Apply and demonstrate a strong technical knowledge base, legal insights, and accuracy while maintaining a high degree of customer service.
- Analyze liability, damage, and coverage issues; develop successful litigation and resolution strategies; and establish appropriate reserves on files.
- Identify and elevate potential large losses in a timely manner and communicate effectively with internal and external business partners.
Education and Experience Information:
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in an insurance-related technical claims position with an emphasis on addressing coverage issues presented by long-term exposure and/or emerging risk issues.
- Juris Doctorate required; prior insurance carrier experience preferred.
- Professional designations/education in insurance such as CPCU, IIA, and SCLA are considered a plus.
- Excellent writing, analytical, presentation, and communication skills are required, with the ability to establish close working relationships with internal stakeholders.
- Some travel may be required.
Salary Information:
- Salary Range: $110,000 – $185,000. Actual compensation for this role will depend on several factors including the cost of living associated with the work location, qualifications, skills, competencies, and relevant experience.
