**Job Title: Prevention Specialist**
**Job Responsibilities:**
The Prevention Specialist role involves a variety of responsibilities that can vary depending on the grade level of the position. Key duties include:
- Planning, developing, organizing, implementing, and directing military and civilian human resources and fiscal programmatic activities.
- Serving as a strategic planner and resource development/allocation manager.
- Performing budget formulation work, including preparing detailed analysis and cost analyses of multi-year funding needs for one or more future budget years.
- Establishing, developing, and maintaining effective working relationships.
- Managing all aspects of complex integrated prevention programs, particularly those focused on violence prevention.
- Leading duties in behavioral, social science, and/or public health practices, principles, and theories relating to the prevention of violence.
- Analyzing, planning, organizing, and directing work operations to meet program requirements and objectives with available resources.
- Mentoring, leading, and appraising the staff of an organization.
**Education and Experience Information:**
**Qualifications:**
To qualify for the Prevention Specialist position, candidates must meet the specialized experience requirements as per the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Positions.
- **GS-09:** Requires one year of specialized experience at the GS-07 level or equivalent, or two years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a master's degree or equivalent in relevant fields.
- **GS-11:** Requires one year of specialized experience at the GS-09 level or equivalent, or three years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a . or equivalent in relevant fields.
- **GS-12:** Requires one year of specialized experience at the GS-11 level or equivalent.
- **GS-13:** Requires one year of specialized experience at the GS-12 level or equivalent.
- **GS-14:** Requires one year of specialized experience at the GS-13 level or equivalent.
- **GS-15:** Requires one year of specialized experience at the GS-14 level or equivalent.
**Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs):**
Candidates will be evaluated based on their knowledge, skills, abilities, and competencies, including:
- Knowledge of social services delivery systems and concepts related to the prevention of sexual assault, domestic violence, suicide, harassment, substance abuse, and other areas of interpersonal and self-directed violence and trauma.
- Understanding of laws, regulations, executive orders, and issues related to acts of interpersonal or intrapersonal violence.
- Skills in assessing program needs, evaluating program status, and recommending or implementing solutions for improvements.
- Ability to apply tact and diplomacy during difficult circumstances to advise and inform individuals and high-level officials on complicated, sensitive, and sometimes controversial issues.
- Proficiency in developing strategies, policies, and plans of action based on broad guidelines and limited precedents.
**Education:**

**Salary Information:**
The salary for this position ranges from $51,332 to $159,950 per year, depending on the grade level and location of the position.
