Job Title: Corporate Counsel

Amazon is seeking a Corporate Counsel with exceptional skills and experience in litigation to join their legal department. The ideal candidate will have a Juris Doctor degree and be a member of one state bar or equivalent. As a part of the legal team, the Corporate Counsel will play a crucial role in managing and coordinating Amazon's commercial litigation portfolio.
The Corporate Counsel will be responsible for architecting and implementing Amazon's litigation strategy for product, auto, general, medical, and workers' compensation liability cases. This includes developing and refining coordinating counsel structures to optimize the management of disputes, selecting and managing outside counsel, and working cross-functionally with Amazon's Risk Management department to ensure the optimal management of individual cases.
In addition to managing litigation, the Corporate Counsel will also advise Amazon leadership on legal and business risks and opportunities, work with Amazon witnesses and data repositories to prepare for trial, and coordinate with Amazon's public policy and public relations teams on matters related to litigation. The candidate will also be responsible for designing and implementing processes that allow for small teams to make high velocity decisions at scale.
The ideal candidate will have exceptional written and verbal communication skills, sound business judgment, and a strong sense of common sense. They should also have experience in litigating and managing product, auto, general, medical, or workers' compensation liability cases, as well as working cross-functionally with Risk Management personnel and insurance companies.

The compensation for this position is based on the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay ranges from $138,500/year in the lowest market to $229,000/year in the highest market. This may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon also provides equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation as part of their total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and other benefits for their employees.

Key Responsibilities:

Basic Qualifications:
- 5+ years of legal experience
- Juris Doctor degree and membership in one state bar or equivalent
Preferred Qualifications:
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
- Sound and practical business judgment combined with strong common sense
- Experience litigating, managing, and coordinating product, auto, general, medical, or workers' compensation liability cases
- Experience working cross-functionally with Risk Management personnel, third party administrators, and insurance companies
- Ability to lead teams, including cross-functional teams, while being a strong partner to other lawyers, business clients, paralegals, and assistants
